You can take the girl out of Vegas…“I left my home town of Las Vegas to pursue a journalism career. After 17 years of television reporting I found Zumba! This is way more fun.”Davida has been dance and stage performing since age 11. She received scholarships for acting and journalism and attended the University of Nevada, Reno. There she majored in journalism and minored in dance. After graduation she went on to report and anchor television news in Texas, Nevada and New England. In 1996 Davida became certified in group exercise instruction. It was a hobby while she interviewed the likes of Ted Kennedy and Louis Farrakhan for New England Cable News, the largest regional 24 hour network. In 2001 Davida’s first child was born and like many mothers her focus changed from career to family. Doing less reporting and more fitness instruction Davida pursued speciality certifications in Reebok Core Board, Turbo Kickboxing, Dance Cardio, Bodypump and more. Eventually she discovered Zumba Fitness and for this “Vegas Girl” it was a natural fit. Davida was a pioneer in New England attending one of the first Zumba trainings in the area. She then moved to Denver, Colorado where she helped introduce Zumba to fitness clubs and people metro wide. Davida was chosen from thousands of applications to be one of the first 100 or so Zumba Jammers in 2010. These are instructors specializing in choreography workshops for Zumba instructors. Davida also received training for Zumba Kids, Zumba Toning (with weights), Zumba Gold and Sentao (with chair). Davida lives in Metro Denver with her wonderful, supportive husband and three children.
